Blocked Drain Clearance in Manchester & Greater Manchester
A slow sink is annoying. Waste coming back up into a bath or an outside gully overflowing is a different matter, and it usually gets worse quickly.
We clear domestic and commercial blockages by rodding and mechanical clearing, then check why it happened — because a drain that blocks every few months normally has a reason behind it.

Problems we're called out to
Kitchen sink not draining
Fat, food waste and old trap deposits building up until nothing moves. Cleared and flushed through.
Bath or shower standing water
Hair and soap build-up in the trap and waste run, or a shared waste backing up further along.
Toilet won't flush away
A blocked pan or soil pipe that fills and drains slowly, often with a gurgle from another fitting.
Waste coming back up
Water appearing in a shower tray when the toilet flushes — a sign the blockage is downstream.
Outside gully overflowing
Leaves, silt and grease in an external gully or the run beyond it.
Drain smells
Dry traps, failed seals or partial blockages letting drain odour back into the property.
How we clear it
Most blockages are cleared on the first visit. We start at the nearest access point, work along the run, and confirm it's genuinely clear by flushing it through rather than declaring victory after the first gurgle.
- Traps stripped, cleaned and reseated properly
- Rodding and mechanical clearing of internal and external runs
- Full flush-through test after clearing
- Advice on what caused it so it doesn't come straight back
Repeat blockages
If the same drain blocks two or three times a year, something structural is usually going on — a bellied run, a partial root intrusion, or a fitting installed with the wrong fall. We'll tell you what we can see and what the sensible options are, including where a specialist drainage survey would be the honest next step rather than us charging you to guess.
Commercial kitchens and salons
Takeaways, cafés and salons put far more grease and hair through their waste than a home ever will. We work with local businesses across Greater Manchester on both emergency clearance and planned maintenance, scheduled around opening hours so you're not turning customers away.

Common questions
- Should I use chemical drain cleaner first?
- We'd generally say no. Shop-bought caustics rarely shift a real blockage, they sit in the pipe and they make the job messier and more hazardous for whoever opens the trap next.
- Do you clear outside drains as well as inside?
- Yes — gullies, external waste runs and the pipework between fittings and the chamber.
- How long does drain clearing take?
- Most single blockages are an hour or two. If the run turns out to be damaged rather than blocked, we'll stop, explain what we've found and give you the options before spending more of your money.
- Do you work on shared drains in flats?
- We do, but where a blockage sits in shared pipework the freeholder or managing agent may be responsible for the cost. We'll tell you what we find so you can take it up with them.
